Topic: Postharvest quality and preservation: a crucial link in the value chain of lignicolous mushrooms

Biograpy:

Dimitrios Argyropoulos is currently working as senior researcher and project manager at the University of Hohenheim, being responsible for the conception, coordination and implementation of EU-funded projects in the agri-food sector. He was born in Athens (Greece), completed his BSc studies in Biosystems Engineering (Agricultural Machinery & Irrigation) and moved to Stuttgart (Germany) for an MSc in Environmental Protection & Agricultural Food Production with a fellowship from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY). After obtaining his MSc, he joined the group of Agricultural Engineering in the Tropics and Subtropics, a leading group working on renewable energy supply systems and post-harvest technology. He has a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Hohenheim for research on post-harvest technologies and quality of agricultural products. His research interests include moisture sorption, drying and air flow experiments, renewable energy applications in postharvest processing, vitamin D enrichment of mushrooms with natural or artificial UV-light and non-destructive measurements of quality by means of ICT-enabled and automated sensors.
