Biography:

Patrick Sedeyn graduated as bio-engineer in 1981 at Ghent university. Inspired by Dr.ir Joseph Poppe he started to produce spawn for exotic mushrooms, at that time a niche market. After being graduated Patrick established and expanded his own company Mycoblank,  a spawn lab specialized in exotic mushrooms and sterile substrates. A job he did until 1995. In 1996 the strain collection, some equipment and employees were taken over by Mycelia. In 1995 he started working at Inagro as consultant for mushroom growers. Inagro is the knowledge partner of agricultural and horticultural businesses in the areas of innovation and sustainability. It encompasses the single practically orientated research centre of edible mushrooms in Belgium. Beside research, consultancy and education the mushroom department of Inagro also defends the interests of the complete mushroom sector in Belgium. After a leap as director of  the Centre for Quality Control (CKC), an independent  certification body for the primary sector and spin off from Inagro, he came back in 2013 to the mushroom department of Inagro to work as researcher and consultant for edible mushrooms.
